Diane graduated from University of California, Irvine in 1979 with a bachelor's of science degree in Social Ecology, which is the study of the interaction between social behavior and the environment. She graduated from Cornell Law School in 1984.

Diane's legal practice focuses on appellate work, legal writing and research in all areas of litigation, including personal injury, product liability, insurance, family, and criminal law. Diane has argued cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association.

Dedicated to improving public schools and providing excellence in education to all students, Diane is actively involved in her community School Board and PTO. She is an avid quilt artist and has had her artwork exhibited in shows and galleries throughout California. Diane's quilt prowess is recognized in Twelve by Twelve, The International Art Quilt Challenge. The book began as an idea she had to get 12 artists from around the world to create twelve, 12 inch by 12 inch quilts on different themes every 60 days. Diane, her husband Roger, and their daughter Caroline reside in Healdsburg, California where they enjoy wine country living.
